Accelerated Reading tests
This Wednesday morning (28.6.2017) the year 4's will sit an extended Accelerated Reading test to assess the effectiveness of the Accelerated Reading scheme. The test assesses the level of growth in children's reading comprehension over the course of the academic year. It will be completed on paper and take approximately 50mins. It's nothing at all to worry about and the children needn't prepare in any way - just arrive at school at the normal time and we'll take care of everything else!
Sports day update: Congratulations to Team Wembley!
Wembley have knocked Twickenham off their pedestal this year! Twickenham's reign as sports day winners has finally come to an end thanks to the grit and determination of Wembley. The scores were incredibly close, as all of the children worked really hard in each and every one of their events. They should be extremely proud of themselves.
Despite working with children from different classes and of different ages, I know I speak for all of the teaching staff in saying how proud I am of our children for working together as a team this year. I saw lots of children encouraging others...even if they weren't on the same team!
Topic: Deserts and Rainforests
Our topic focus for this half term is 'Deserts and Rainforests'. We have discovered the key features of these two very different environments and the fascinating ways in which plants and animals (including humans!) have adapted to survive in these harsh, exotic places.
Trip to Sutton Fire Station
The Billionaire Boys embarked on an exciting trip to the fire station for a water safety day this term. We had the opportunity to meet the hard-working firemen to find out more about their job, and look around a real working fire station! The firemen taught us how to respect and care for the environment around us by taking us on a mini-beast finding expedition into the woods. We also went pond-dipping to learn about water safety, and to discover what incredible creatures live in water. Furthermore, we were shown around a real fire engine whilst we learnt what to do in the event of a real house fair, or if our clothes catch fire (STOP! DROP! ROLL!), and why you should never throw matches in the bin.
Miss Mackell and Miss Durant are hosting a brand new after-school club this half term where we will all come together to watch exciting films to share our thoughts and opinions about them. Places are limited and have already been allocated with letters sent home - we look forward to seeing you there!
E-Safety Film Day
On Friday 16th June we are having some very special visitors to our class. A real film crew will be joining us to teach us all about e-safety and the Billionaire Boys will get the opportunity to make, star in and direct their very own film! This film will be showed in school, and not shared with any third parties outside of school.
Sports Day is fast approaching, and the Billionaire Boys have been divided! Every child in school has been split into 4 separate houses to compete in a variety of excellent sporting events. Let the games begin!
