Meet the Governors

Supporting and challenging the St Andrew's School family to enable everyone to 'Push out into the Deep' and to equip them for today and tomorrow within the framework of our Christian values.

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.
We have also provided a Register of Governor Interests for your information.

The governors believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the board, including data on age, gender, and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision-making.

Due to our relatively small governing board, we will not publish this diversity data online as individual governors could be identified, and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.

Minutes of all Governors' meetings are available on request from the School Office.

Structure of St Andrew's Governing Body

Meet our governors...

Myles Newey

Claire Frow

My name is Claire Frow and I became a Governor at St Andrew’s so that I could support the school to ensure all pupils receive the best possible start to their educational career. I was first elected as a Parent Governor in 2015, and subsequently became a Co-opted Governor in 2019.  As Chair of the School Vision Development Committee and Safeguarding Governor, I meet regularly with Mr Snelling to ensure pupils stay safe so they can learn effectively and to their full potential.

I have been a teacher myself for over 23 years, so I am able to bring my knowledge and experience of the education system to my role of Governor. I am a passionate advocate for St Andrews’ School, having attended there as a pupil myself and with my three children having attended, with one son still there. I strongly believe that the Christian Values promoted by the school help our children to become rounded, caring members of society.

John Hunter

I am a parent of three children, all of whom have attended St Andrew's, and I have served on the governing body since 2008.

I am passionate about ensuring every child receives the best possible education, within a happy, secure and Christian environment, which fosters sound spiritual, moral, social and cultural values. My background is in banking and finance, with particular emphasis on businesses and entrepreneurship. I am committed to working with the governing body to support the school in achieving its goals and providing a nurturing learning environment for all pupils, by encouraging each child to ‘Push out into the deep’ and be the best that they can be.

Pam Clarke

I am a Foundation Governor appointed by St Andrew’s Parochial Church Council on behalf of the diocese of Southwell. I was appointed in 1992 when my children were attending the school. I have a particular responsibility for staffing appointments. I have good knowledge of how the school educates and develops our children for the future and I regularly meet with the Head and have a good relationship with other members of staff. As well as meeting with other Governors, I am regularly around school. I help with trips and attend “Special Days” which helps me to be supportive and effective.

My prayer is that all children will leave St Andrew’s having experienced our Christian values, Love, Trust, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness and Respect and that when they move on to their next school they will be equipped to “Push out into the Deep”.

It is an honour and a privilege to be a Governor at St Andrew’s school representing the Parish Church.

John Summerfield

Mary Whitbread

I am a Foundation Governor voted by the PCC of St Andrew's Church and I have had responsibility in different areas of the School Improvement Plan throughout my time, including RE studies.

I am a trustee and volunteer of the Vine Tree Charity Shop and a volunteer for over 30 years at John Eastwood Hospice.

I became a governor because I have a passion for supporting children and wish to help them to flourish and grow in their learning and personality, which will equip them in their future lives. I believe strongly in the school's vision and Christian values.

Reverend Peter Chantry

Amy Reid

I am a parent to one child at St Andrew's, and I am passionate about all children getting the best start in their education.

I work as a contact support worker, so I have a passion for ensuring vulnerable children get the best start possible in their school life. I am a teacher by background and worked in schools for 10 years prior to my current role. I commend myself on being a good communicator, organiser and problem-solver. I am the training coordinator for the Governing body, ensuring we all have the most up-to-date and relevant training available.

I am committed to working with the governing body and school staff in achieving our goals and maintaining our school ethos and values.

Stacey Holt

As a mum of two children at St Andrew's, I am passionate about the importance of children having the opportunity to thrive in their educational environment. Alongside this, my work underscores for me the role excellent education, pastoral support, inclusivity and creativity have in helping our children build a solid foundation on which to grow.

I became a governor to support the maintenance of our school’s vision and ethos for our children. I believe schools play a vital role in shaping our children, teaching them to connect with themselves, their peers, their community and much more.

I am a qualified counsellor, and a diploma-level counselling tutor. The core skills of my role are listening and communication, safeguarding, empathy and supporting change. I am keen to extend these skills to my role as a Co-Opted Governor.

I have a vested interest in our school’s success, as a parent, as someone from the community and as someone who works with issues that often start in childhood. As such, I am committed to upholding the high standards St Andrew's has set and will hold the school leadership accountable to these.
