What another great wee we have had in Fantastic Foxes!
This week we have been very excited to start our new English unit based around writing a setting description for a toy shop. At the start of the week we set up and made our very own toy shop in the classroom! There were so many wonderful toys on offer and we all really enjoyed taking on the role of different people who may have been in a toy sho at this time of year.
In maths, we have continued our hard work on multiplication and division. Please remember to keep accessing Numbots, 1-minute maths and TTRS at home as just five minutes a day can make such a difference.
In Science this week we enjoyed creating our very own classication keys. This was really tricky at first as we needed to think of a key question that would first split our group of living things into two smaller, but equal groups. We then had to keep thinking about questions that would split up the living things that we had left and hadn't classified yet. Although this was tricky, a class game of 'Guess Who' really seemed to help us with this and help us get the hang of asking questions that could only be answered with yes or no.
We have also enjoyed learning all about Sutton Hoo in History, revisiting and consolidating our learning related to coding in computing and completing our final kite designs in DT. We are really excited to make our designs in the near future!
Well done on another great week Foxes. See you all again next week!
We have had a busy week in school. We began with 'Odd Socks Day' to start our work on Anti-Bulling Week. We discussed the importance of individuality and that it is ok to be different.
We have continued our work on poetry in English. The children have been working exceptionally hard on the language they have chosen to use; amazing vocabulary Foxes - keep it up!
We ended the week celebrating Children in Need. Thank you for your wonderful donations to this fantastic cause.
What a busy week! Penalty shoot outs with Mansfield Town, an amazing Hindu experience and recreating the digestive system to name just a few of the things we got up to!
Have a look at the photos below!
This week saw the Fantastic Foxes making cakes as part of their English work!
We had to follow a recipe and we even had to measure out the ingredients too! We thought about all the imperative verbs and adverbs that we used while we were making the cakes to help us with our writing.
Also this week, we were lucky enough to have a coaching session with Mansfield Town so they can give us some tips ready for the sponsored penalty shoot out next week! We enjoyed developing our football knowledge and skills with them.
As well as all this, we have been focusing on detailed drawings of our hands in Art, thinking about the importance of challenging ourselves in PSHE and we even found time for soem Star in the Jar reward time!
Our classroom is starting to fill up with fantastic work too. Have a look at a couple of our displays!
What a great first week back! The new (and some old!) Fantastic Foxes have settled in brilliantly and we're already looking forward to all the great work we will produce this year.
We had a big focus on resilience this week, linking it to our class motto of always showing GRIT (Guts, Resilience, Initiative and Tenacity). We did lots of different activities that we had to show resilience when we didn't manage it the first time, including building a tower as high as possible and drawing a turtle in 3 minutes!
This week, we also started looking at the digestive system in Science and Uk countries and cities in Geography.
We already can't wait for what we will get up to next week!
